Sustainable financing of university incubators

Accompanying research as part of the EXIST-Potentials Program

As part of the EXIST-Potentials Program, the Gründungsfabrik Rheingau were able to conduct research on the topic of “Sustainable financing of university start-up centres”. One of the goals of the EXIST program is to improve the start-up climate at universities and non-university research institutions.

The research was led by Prof. Dr. Falko Paetzold, Junior Professor for Social Finance at EBS University. He was supported by Tim Eckes. On the part of the Gründungsfabrik, the team was completed by Dr. Jan Christoph Munck-Rieder.

The report provides practical examples of how university incubators have already successfully collaborated with the private sector and secured sustainable financing. In addition to the presentation and classification of interview and survey results, individual case studies show how partnerships with business can secure sustainable financing.
